We have been home now for 3 weeks and have almost settled in to our at home routine. WTT is still out in the driveway but we have finished up the unloading and cleaning so she is ready to be driven over and put into storage for a few weeks - but I think I'll wait for a semi nice day weatherwise before accomplishing that milestone. In addition to the normal cleaning routine I did accomplish one more WTT modification the other day. The shower door in Winne was a three piece aluminum frame and glass setup that rattled something fierce, had a tendency to come unlatched when traveling, and had plastic hardware highly prone to breakage. I have been looking at purchasing a retractable shower door/curtain for some time and had an opportunity to purchase, at a good discount, a new never been installed one from an on-line acquaintance a week or so ago - so I did. The new door arrived this last Wednesday and I got it installed on Thursday. It took more work to remove the old door and clean up all the surfaces than it did to install the new one!
The new door/curtain consists of a plastic (some sort of polyester mylar type of material) curtain that rolls on tracks and is stored in an aluminum container on the right when not in use. It sure is lighter than what was there before, has nothing to rattle, won't be coming open on it's own during travel and sure gives a lot more room to enter and exit the shower. I think we are going to like this change! Oh yeah -- and it self squeegees itself dry when it rolls up! As always - we'll have to wait and see how it all works in the "real" world!
So what else have we been doing besides watching the snow melt? Well -- we've had a few visits with grandkids to checkup on how much they have grown in the past few months while we weren't watching. And we found time to find some good Maine seafood and to visit Fat Boy Drive-in restaurant. I even smoked up some baby back ribs last week!! It might still look and feel like winter out there but we're pretending it's spring regardless!
Oh yeah ... and I bought a new truck about a week and half ago! I'd been contemplating the pros and cons of keeping my 2003 Silverado going for more years vs buying a new one that wasn't going to need repairing every few months. When I took the Silverado out of the garage upon our return home and then for a short trip to the local mall it helped make up my mind. First the check engine light came on and then the drivers side door lock hung up making me slide out the passenger side to exit. Both items were minor but when you add in the fact that it was time for new tires and the annual safety inspection was due ... it was time!

So ... after a little shopping ... and a few days of price "negotiating" I became the proud owner of a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado. I've liked the looks of the Chevy Colorado / GMC Canyon for a few years now and I liked the idea of getting something smaller than a full size truck. The new Colorado has just enough bells and whistles - but not too many! I really don't need adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, lane assist, and the built in coffee maker. But I do like having 4 wheel drive, a backup camera, and the trailer towing package. I'll probably even use the feature that lets my phone sync with the "infotainment" system so I can let "google" give me directions and let me use the phone "hands free."
I guess it really shows my age if I remember back when having a rear view mirror and seat belts were "options!"
