Today we had a pretty uneventful trip through the remainder of Iowa and about 50 miles into Nebraska where we are staying in Lincoln - Capital of Nebraska and home of the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers. S0 far we have traveled a bit over 1700 miles and have about 1700 miles to go.
I consider Nebraska as the transition from the midwest to the west. On the east you have a lot of corn and on the west you have high desert. Since Peggy was born in Nebraska and still has an Aunt and Uncle in North Platte - we will travel only that far tomorrow - about 225 miles. We also hope to get a bit of grocery shopping done and maybe even do some laundry.
I saw on the national news tonight that the average price of gas has fallen since mid-July from about $4.09 to about $3.86. They also mentioned that the falling price of gas has lagged considerably behind the falling price of crude oil. When crude oil was last at the price it was today ($118 / barrell) the price of gas was $3.60 / gallon. It would be nice if it catches up soon. All that said - it was nice to only pay $3.54 / gallon today in Iowa.
