MIM and D&J visit LBJ

Yesterday was yet another tourist day. It is kinda rare that we play tourist two days in a row after driving 300 or so miles - but the weather outlook over the next few days looks a bit grim - so we have been getting in some of the outdoor things we all wanted to do. So yesterday was Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ) Ranch day. For you youngsters out there LBJ was our 36th president - you know - the one right after JFK and right before RMN. LBJ is best known for 2 things ... escalation of the Vietnam War ... and the "Great Society" legislation of the mid 60s. In the whole, neither of these things turned out all that great - but times were different then - who knew then that we would choose to lose the war anyway and deficit spend our way to oblivion instead while creating an entitlement society? Yup - times were sure different then.


Regardless of his politics and policies - LBJ was certainly an interesting man and probably our last president to truly work his way to the presidency from simple rural roots.

The weather turned pretty darn windy last evening. Can you image that? wind in Texas! I got tired of the wind flapping the slideout cover over our living room slideout so I brought that one in around 9 PM. It is still a little windy this morning but not too bad - so the slideout is back out.


It looks like we are going to have a little slower day today. We plan to go see what mischief we can find locally here in Boerne this afternoon ... but I think we are going to stick closer to home.
